Helianthus (sunflower) — the basic olive plant. Blossoms from July till September. In the melliferous relation is appreciated for nectar, pollen allocates a little. Helianthus (sunflower) is an annual plant with thick stalks to 4—5 m of height. The head is usually 15-20 sm., but sometimes reaches to 50 sm.

The Helianthus (sunflower) native land is the North America.

Apparently, for the first time the sunflower has been cultivated by tribes of North American Indians. There are archaeological certificates of cultivation of sunflower in territory of present states Arizona and New Mexico approximately in 3000 year BC. Some archeologists assert that the sunflower has been cultivated even before wheat.
