In a sort total approximately 200 kinds which grow in subtropics on both hemispheres, most of all in the Mediterranean and in the north-west of the North America. The sort name occurs from Greek linom – flax. It has been long since appropriated to a plant from which received a yarn. Plants of this sort the annual or long-term grasses forming friable bushes, consisting from thin, firm. Leaves sedentary, as a rule, narrow, hardly noticeable. The flowers are five-membered, reveal only in a sunny day. Quickly fade. But at first sight it seems that flax blossoms long time for all new and new stalks constantly grow.
